Innere Stadt

Stadtteil I, the Innere Stadt, is Bern's medieval old town inside the Aare loop — a UNESCO World Heritage site of sandstone façades, the Zytglogge clock tower, the Gothic Münster and the federal Bundeshaus, all linked by 6 km of covered arcades (Lauben). Tightly built and largely car-free, it holds relatively few flats, so the units that change hands sit at the top of the city's price range. It is the prime address for buyers who want to live inside the capital's historic core.
